"Oh, come on! Is this really happening? This isn't actually happening right?" Laney is looking at me with bright eyes, and I can see she wants to laugh but is trying to be sympathetic. "I'm sorry, cuz. What a bummer." "You're not actually sorry! You think this is a good thing." She is still trying not to laugh, but she nods somberly. "I confess, I do think it is a good thing." Then she runs out of ym room and I can hear her whooping in the hall. "ARGH! Abugagagag!"

To The Rainbows Edge

To The Rainbows EdgeWritten by Brandon Brawner Gone today to the journeys end,Enduring the pains of separation; On your feet and up the path,The futures near - it’s close at last. Sing to the dawn of new destinations,Forgetting the dream of past salvation; But just a moment ago,I tried to see,A glimpse inside an ancient me. So I journey to the rainbows edge,The higher path I take instead; To become a vision,Seen and gone;As I journey to the close beyond. What were the pictures,The looking glass holds; And what are the legends,That were never told? How can it end,If it didn’t begin; How can I shape,The current I swim? I cannot remember when,No I cannot remember when…But just a moment ago,A simple shining,Moment ago. So I journey to the rainbows edge,The higher path I take instead; To become a vision,Seen and gone;As I journey to the close beyond. Reach out and touch me,Give me your hand;Walk as this moment,Become the command. In the silence I begin to fall,Surrendering to eternity’s call. You search for me - But I am here,Above the dream - And in the clear. It’s my truth that makes me wander,Outward bound I go;A thought to think and ponder,A syllabus to know. So I journey to the rainbows edge,The higher path I take instead; To become a vision,Seen and gone;As I journey to the close beyond. The golden horizon inspires,The portrait I create; While wandering silently through,The labyrinths of this fait. And in this heaven there is no hell,Be careful lest you break the spell; The dream is illusion,Let go of it’s word —And fly like an echo,Let tomorrow be heard. Deep in the hearts of dreams we feel,We never dreamt it could be so real. But just a moment ago,We lived in a story; But just a moment ago,We triumphed in glory. So I journey to the rainbows edge,The higher path I take instead; To become a vision,Seen and gone;As I journey to the close beyond. Our life was like the picture on the wall,Old and dusty and ready to fall;An outdated world is what it had become,In silencing truth and distant wisdom. We never saw it pass us bye,We never heard the mountain cry;Our eyes were shut we did not see,The imagination we should be, But just a moment ago,The story went on;But just a moment ago,We heard a new song. It drifts in a breath of the mightiest winds,A fiery journey; We may now —Live to begin! So I journey to the rainbows edge,The higher path I take instead; To become a vision,Seen and gone;As I journey to the close beyond. © 2004 Brandon Brawner
