A Politically Correct Dream
1 part / 7 pages
,
updated May 30, 2016

This is a short satire about politically correctness and its consequences if taken to extremes. An immigrant view of American society and some of the things the author had to deal with during his acculturation process in America. The author experiences a dream where he sees the consequences and absurdity of some situations in America if they were taken seriously by a social organization or the government. His reaction and his thought about what happens around him are the main focus of the story.

Scarlet Lore
1 part / 5 pages
,
updated Oct 27, 2016

Loyalty, Love, Blood. A steady peace has been reached between the fractions of London's supernatural underworld. The model has been replicated across the globe and the word-the non-human one perhaps-is drifting towards peace. Sine is perfectly happy with this. Sure, she likes her bloodshed as much as anyone else but she is certainly glad to be rid of that dagger hanging over her. One fateful day, however, she recieves news that ruins this perfect contentment. With a quick detour into the darker side of witchcraft and a little bit of sacrifice she figures all that is fixed. Of course it isn't that easy. A new danger looms overhead, threatening to destroy everything she has worked for. The veil between the living and the dead is growing thinner and a war is brewing beneath the surface. The threat just happens to be a lot closer to home than anyone expected.   ***************** Cover made by Jewlez on wattpad.

1868 Treaty of Fort Laramie and the Paradox of Land Claims
1 part / 28 pages
,
updated Oct 22, 2016

In the late 1800s the Euro-Americans were expanding West under the idea of Manifest Destiny. The notion of Manifest Destiny gave Euro-Americans the false assumption that as the superior race, Providence had blessed them with the territory and resources of North America and the indigenous peoples who were there mellinia before them be damned. After the Civil War, some of the Union soldiers were sent to the Great Plains to passisfy the Lakota Nation (Sioux) who were not easily passified. During the 1860s, Red Cloud's War made clear to the U.S. Cavalry that peace with the Lakota and other Great Plains tribes would be a less expensive alternative. Red Cloud's War was the decisive factor in proving to the U.S. Cavalry that they had no quarter with the Lakota Nation when it came to War. President Ulysses Grant sent his commissioners out over the next year to gather the various signatures of the prominent leaders of the Lakota Nation and Great Plains tribes to establish peace in what became known as the 1868 Fort Laramie Treaty. Several famous prominent leaders such as Sitting Bull and Crazy Horse refused to sign the treaty, remembering how the U.S. had broken the 1851 Fort Laramie Treaty and treaties established with other American Indians. Shortly after being signed and ratified, Lt Colonel George A. Custer discovered gold in the Black Hills. Outlined in the treaty, trespass passing onto Lakota territory, which included the Black Hills, was a violation. Nevertheless, the Grant and several high-ranking members of the U.S. cavalry immediately set about stealing the Black Hills. In the process, the 1868 Treaty of Ft. Laramie Treaty was ripped apart, stomped on, and set afire, violated in the most audacious of ways. Years later, the Lakota Nation took the U.S. Government to court until the members were finally able to establish the Supreme Court to establish that the Black Hills  " was a taking" initiated on behalf of the United States government. The U.S. has awarded the Lakota Nation $350 million, the largest monetary amount ever awarded to an Indian Nation by the U.S. Court. Yet, the Lakota want no part of the deal and, currently, it rests in the Federal Treasury, accruing interest. Instead, all eight of the Lakota bands have insisted they want returned to them some of the federally owned land of the Black Hills, which the government retains thousands of acres, some financial recompense, and other items. This is not a tall order to ask and is quite do-able.
