This is a real love story where the man leaves the woman with the devastating words...I need to go for the real gold...She is completely shattered....She completely falls apart... she comes back together a lot stronger.... She knows he is chasing fool's gold...he is on a mission... he has a completely false image of himself...he doesn't yet know who he is... The reader is led along....did he really do that, you must be kidding, women wouldn't do that surely?....It is told in a conversational way as though gossiping over coffee.... The time-line is jumped around in as QB (the woman) remembers different scenes that she has played with Hat (the man). It's a cautionary tale of how when man has a false image of himself, acts with self interest reasons only, is afraid of his own shadow... he destroys all that has been good and beautiful in his life, and rather than face his inner demons, he demonises others... The woman is called QB...the reason is revealed at the end...what the nick name stands for. The man is called Hat because QB looks across at a photo of him and sees him wearing his favourite hat...she can't bear to look at Hat now....Hat is just how she always thinks of him... It is a Bridget Jones style book, but with observations of human behaviour and how the human psyche works...and also how when man strives for spiritual knowledge he often loses sight of living a good life... .
GENRE: Contemporary, Fiction, Romance6,000 words; Excerpt; Chapter One of a 100,000 - 140,000 word novel, most of which is written, but not yet polished. In the late summer, 1992, an artist and a married woman meet at a Corcoran exhibit in which he is featured. The woman’s husband, a career diplomatic service professional, is about to learn that he will be in the Far East for a year. The story of the affair continues for 1000 weeks, almost twenty years, although the affair itself is over—except for occasional rendezvous—after the only year they have together. It is a story of obsessive love, and how it effects their lives. It includes paranormal and spiritual aspects that characterize the timeless nature of their union. Told from the artist’s point of view, the tale unfolds in alternate chapters, a flashback week, followed by a contemporaneous week. The woman cannot forget her lover, but cannot leave her husband. Defying a fundamental precept of Romance writing, in the end, the lovers are not united, which seems enough to condemn this work to the contemporary fiction heaps. The career diplomat leaves the State Department and is elected to Congress, which ultimately eliminates any possibility . . . The artist is condemned to search for her in every crowd and fantasize about finding her, if not in reality, in a surrogate, or in another world. A final misunderstanding breaks all contact, and the earthly saga ends with the artist’s death and an unobserved afterlife visitation.

GENRE: Fiction, Historical, Western, Paranormal, Romance,12,200 words; the first chapter of a 100,000 - 120,000 word novel, well over one-third of which is written, but not yet polished. It is 1879. Inside the AT&SF Railway station in Emporia, Kansas, Snyder Starr ended what might have been a far worse incident with a lightening quick six-gun. Clearly, he was a capable man, short in stature but big on integrity, courage, and fair play. A Civil War veteran, he fought for the losing side, and stood at Appomattox as the surrender was signed, then carried the news to his outfit, McNeill Rangers, awaiting word. The war was over, but the loss did not sit easy; Snyder was a restless man. He wandered westward plying his railroad occupation, but found he could not live long in any one place before he had to draw his gun. To their detriment, people tended to underestimate him. Wherever he roamed, he also won admirers by applying bow to violin. Although accomplished, cultured, and knowledgeable, Snyder wasn’t prepared for the opportunities that killing the behemoth bully in Emporia presented. In one act, doors to the paranormal opened to aid him in events, which he inadvertently set in motion; a struggle between two worlds, and an evilly aligned faction led by the dead giant’s even more menacing twin, who stood in the way of a bright future and a beloved woman with special talents of her own.

Bawalla’s main character is Mick, a plumber who lives in a small coastal Australian town where his wife is a school teacher. Both are eagerly anticipating the birth of their first child. Mick tells of his fears and hopes for the future as the story unfolds. At times, the story flashes back to parts of his childhood, both humorous and tragic, to let the reader know how he came to be the man he is. The main story revolves around the following sequence of events: Mick’s wife Janelle, becomes frustrated before one of her classes after an incident with recently-returned-to-town know-it-all, Ken Perry. She takes it out on one of her students, Jay who happens to be the son of Mike’s best mate and employee, Dave. Ego bruised, Jay and his mates play a seemingly harmless trick on their teacher a few nights later by drunkenly prank calling her to announce that her husband has been involved in an accident. Janelle, who earlier in the night had a phone conversation regarding drink-driving with her husband whilst celebrating his brother’s birthday, rushes to make it to the hospital and in doing so, has an accident which causes her to miscarriage. The story then focuses on Mike and his ability to control his urge for some sort of revenge versus forgiving his best-mates son, amid strained relationships between all parties.

This novel is very short and sweet; a 14 year old girl Nisha is the typical 14 year old girl but from her point of view, it is possible to feel for her and maybe even understand what shes going through. I wrote this novel when I was 14 so it is very much from that age perspective but it is refresing to read it now a few years later. Girls have crushes all the time and they are seen as amazing parts of teenage life but can actually be hard and I wanted this book to dsicover that in the most funniest and emotional way I could.
